Simply measuring battery voltage is not a true indication of the state of a battery. A battery test has 2 aspects to it: There is the voltage of the battery (which is a rough indication if the battery is fully charged). Then, there is the ability of the battery to hold and deliver the power it has stored. I.e the voltage could show the battery is fully charged but the battery could be badly sulphated and useless. You need to test the voltage of the battery under a heavy load condition. VS-354

Sterling Digital Battery Tester

Digital 12V battery tester wih LCD display. Suitable for all lead acid variants including AGM, GEL and Carbon. Features include 6 operation languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Polish. Ten testing standards (CCA, BCI, CA, MCA, JIS, DIN, IEC, EN, SAE, GB). Test results provide “state of health”, “state of charge”,

“voltage”, “CCA”, “internal resistance”, battery rating and a user battery review. Three test modes, “in vehicle”, “out of vehicle”, “quick test”. In vehicle test also includes a cranking and charging test for the battery. Data can be downloaded from the device to a PC via a mini USB cable (not supplied). Simply connect the device to the individual 12V batteries in your bank using the clips included, you can test each battery without disconnecting it from the bank - set the tester to the capacity of each individual battery and you are ready to test.
