12V Batteries

The battery is the heart of the on-board electrical system, storing power for critical on-board systems, often including heating, lighting and water supply as well as entertainment equipment, appliances and the inverter (if fitted). Many types of battery technology are available, offering different characteristics to work effectively according to the nature of the demand for power. Choosing the correct battery type and size is very important - we offer starter, leisure and specialist ranges, and our experienced team can assist if needed.

Victron offer a premium range of specialist batteries particularly suited for use as domestic batteries where cyclic life is important, and they will withstand deeper discharges than common lead-acid batteries. Typical applications are specialist vehicles that are used for off-grid camping and professional duty. Not suitable for engine starting. Victron’s Lithium batteries include internal cell balancing and require external protection for temperature and excessive discharge depth.

Exide’s range of FLA and AGM leisure batteries are NCC approved for leisure use. Features and benefits for FLA include low maintenance, low gas emissions and higher cyclic life than many SLA equivalents. The dual purpose AGM is maintenance free with a shelf-life of up to 24 months. These batteries can be used for domestic power storage or engine start and are suitable for general purpose leisure duty. 2 year warranty against defective manufacture. We recommend the use of a battery capacity monitor to help ensure your batteries are kept sufficiently charged.

AL12100 Lithium battery from Sterling Power. Perfect for use as heavy duty deep cycle domestic battery on motor-homes and specialist/professional vehicle conversions. Built in cell balancing, low voltage disconnect (with automatic reconnect), high and low temperature protection. Fire retardant case and explosion-proof stainless steel cells. Sterling recommend the use of a B-B battery charger for controlled charging via alternator, and also stipulate that a B-B must be used on Euro6 (stop/start) systems for charging Lithium batteries.
