In 2013 R1234yf air conditioning systems began to be introduced on vehicles sold in the UK and Ireland. From the 1 st January 2017 all new cars manufactured contain the ‘new’ refrigerant
R1234yf (new gas) has been the refrigerant of choice since 2017, with all new vehicles being manufactured using this gas. These vehicles are now hitting the aftermarket in volume, along with vehicles since 2013 also using ‘new gas’ there has never been a better time to invest in a ‘new gas’ compatible machine.

Since 2017, over 12m cars have been fitted with R1234YF Gas, with volume expected to increase a further 1.8 million in the next year.
Investing in more expensive equipment may open further opportunities such as leak detection, repair work, sanitisation treatments and more. So it is always worth considering what you want to achieve from your unit.

There are now approximately 33.3m cars on the UK and Ireland roads, of which 40% are less than 6 years old. This means at least 13 million cars on the UK and Ireland roads are fitted with new gas.
