Solid Flywheel Conversion Kits

C onversion kits offer a high performing aftermarket alternative to the DMF which matches its performance over its lifetime. This aftermarket innovation is celebrating over 10 years of success.

The conversion kit design is composed of a rigid flywheel - with no wear parts - after eliminating the need the flywheel has been replaced. In order to provide the same clutch function, maximum engine torque transfer and full gearbox protection, conversion kit contains a clutch kit specially designed clutch disc with long travel damper (LTD) technology, which is widely used by most of the major clutch manufacturers as original equipment. This enables DMF to Solid flywheel conversion ensuring the level of filtration of engine noise and vibration was maintained by the LTD disc. Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor The Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor (EGTS) is located in either the front of the Diesel Catalyst and depending on vehicle manufacturer it can also be located in front of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) this sensor detects exhaust gas temperature and converts this into a voltage signal. This information is then sent back to the engine ECU with the voltage signal in order to control engine conditions to effectively reduce emission. Higher engine temperatures can cause premature engine wear and in some cases engine failure.

EGR Valve

Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is a nitrogen oxide emissions reduction technique used in petrol and diesel engines. The EGR valve works by recirculating a proportion of the engines exhaust gas back in to the engine cylinders, this vastly increases efficiency whilst the engine is cold and, results in a cleaner, more complete burn of fuel. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler uses the engines coolant to help reduce exhaust gas temperatures prior to recirculating them through the engines intake system. The EGR Cooler prevents damage to expensive components downstream in the exhaust system, like the turbocharger, and prevents the build-up of pollutants due to excessive temperatures.

Secondary Air System The Secondary Air System adds oxygen to the exhaust system gases to assist in the final “burn off” of the emissions. Fresh air is pumped into the exhaust by either an electrical/mechanical pump or a one-way valve. The Secondary air system is commonly used during the warm up cycle to help burn the rich air-to-fuel mixture needed to run a cold engine. After two to three minutes of running the catalytic convertor is close to operational temperature. After this period the secondary air system shuts down.

Lambda Sensors

The Lambda Sensor is a key component of a vehicle’s engine management system and also prevents damage to the catalytic converter. The Lambda Sensor is located in the exhaust system and measures the amount of unburned oxygen in your engine’s exhaust. Based on the amount of oxygen, it sends a signal to your engine computer which then adjusts the air/fuel mixture for optimum engine performance and emission control.
