Day 2 We met for breakfast around 7am - none of us could walk properly as our feet were not in good shape from the previous day however, no one complained... we just packed up and set off again with our bags. As you’ll all remember, it was circa 30 degrees on these days and we could tell! It was getting hotter and hotter. Our feet were shot to pieces and we were all hobbling from the start, but knew we had to dig deep and keep going. The path trail for the 2nd day wasn’t fun at all - it was very steep in parts and the ground was a mixture of gravel path and tarmac. To make things worse, there were some steep drops too – all of this started to make this day the hardest ever... and it took its toll on our bodies. As we got more and more into the trail, we soon realised there was nowhere to refill our drinks, and we were starting to run out of water. The sun wasn’t letting up either and our feet felt like they were on fire with the severe blisters we were all now getting. We were all limping badly in one way or another and whilst our physical side was draining fast, we had our mental resilience kick in for a while. This was greatly helped by the support/jokes etc we were receiving from the teams – they really did put smiles on our faces and keep us going. We hobbled on for a good few miles more in silence whilst we all just tried to switch off from the pain that we are all in. I’m sure you heard we got about halfway in and we physically and mentally couldn’t go on any further. We were really concerned for possible injuries and effects from the extreme heat too – so we all agreed we needed to stop. We had dinner, swapped blister pictures and all reflected on the remarkable few days we had and how really proud we are of our achievement. Yes we were disappointed

not to do the full 55 miles, but extremely proud of the 40 miles we did do and the money we raised along the way. (Just re the bags we were carrying for the 2 days. I weighed mine when I got home and my bag weighed 12.6kg which is about 1.9 stone – all our bags been similar weight – told you they were heavy)
