INA Timing Belt and FEAD * belt system training

We often hear from vehicle Technicians they have not undertaken, or even been offered, any updated training for Timing belt & FEAD drive systems since their initial mechanical training. Often commenting they don’t really need additional training, they also think because they have been working on these systems without issue for years, they know everything there is to know about belt drive systems. It’s a fair comment, and they may have had no issues… yet! However, there have been some real major technological developments made to belt systems over the last ten years, and on the face of it, information regarding these advances is still very thin on the ground. So, it is important not to forget, if you think your knowledge is up to date, then you won’t go looking for more information until something goes wrong…

To see if you could benefit from an update, test yourself to see if you can answer the four questions below: 1. Oval Crankshaft and Camshaft sprockets are fitted to high volume production engines today from Ford, PSA & VAG. How can you identify them and what is their purpose? 2. Do common rail High Pressure Fuel Injection Pumps need to be timed? 3. Many Camshaft and High-Pressure Fuel Pump sprockets have to be released from their mounts during a Timing Belt change? Why is this, and what effect does not releasing them have on the Timing Belt drive system? 4. Why do you need two tensioner rollers on a Starter / Generator FEAD system?

You can learn about all these topics, along with a mountain of other information, on our INA LKQ Academy days. The courses are IMI approved and certified and are currently being rolled out across the UK.

Make sure you book early – as places are limited and going fast!

How long has it been since you had some clutch and transmission refresher training? The below courses have been developed to help technicians stay up to date with the ever-changing mechanics of a vehicles transmission system.
