PPE Special

SELECTED PPE PRODUCTS AT HUGE REDUCTIONS

As ever, our network remains open and operational to support you. Our delivery promises and UK coverage remains unchanged, and rest assured that we continue with our robust safety measures and practices to keep us all safe.

Face masks

In our stores We have asked customers to wear face coverings in our stores since it became a legal requirement to do so last year. With the infection rate still high across the country, and in line with other retailers, we are now making this a compulsory requirement in all our stores. If you visit one of our stores and don’t have a mask we will be able to provide you with one. If you cannot wear a mask, we have plenty of alternative ways to shop should you decide to, such as taking your order over the phone and bringing it to your vehicle, or giving you sole occupancy of the store whilst you collect your items. Let us come to you You can of course keep it completely contactless by using our fast, online ordering service through Omnipart and get parts delivered direct to your workshop. It offers you a priority service, and even better, is available at all hours. Just login, find the parts you need and let us do the rest. Keeping your teams and customers safe It’s important to keep yourself and your teams safe whilst you continue to support your customers too. We’ve refreshed some of the posters we have available for you to help you inform and advise people when they’re on your site. You can download them through our Omnihub, along with the latest guidance and support on how to keep moving, safely. Plus, we’ve dropped even more prices across our PPE range, to give you one less thing to worry about in these uncertain times. Keep calm and carry on MOTing The latest lockdown rules say you can continue to provide MOT tests in all parts of Great Britain, and there’s plenty of opportunity out there for garages from last year’s extension. Whilst remaining open is key, it is just as important to stay Covid compliant. We believe the key to success is setting yourself up to thrive under the new rules and regulations. Things like booking MOTs in advance, means you can stay organised, as well as keeping a steady stream of revenue for your business. Allowing yourself ample time to deep clean vehicles before and after coming into your workshop, will not only help manage your workload, it will also increase customer trust - making you their first port of call, when they need work doing in future. A reminder of the support available to you From keeping you supplied for all your critical jobs, to kitting you out with all the essential PPE you’ll need, along with providing you easy to use solutions for parts ordering through Omnipart; we’ve got you covered. We have a wealth of business guidance and the latest safety advice on our Omnihub, to help keep you up to date. Our service solutions packages are designed to help you with things like staff shortages or customer payment plans, taking some of the pressure off you. These are uncertain times for all of us, but we’re committed to help you keep safe and carry on – so whatever you need from us, we’re here. You can visit the Omnihub or contact your local branch to find out what support is available to you.

Aircon Season is just around the corner. Don’t miss out!

Service Packages

With the warmer months approaching, aircon season will be here before we know it. Make sure you take advantage of the opportunities this will bring by investing in the right equipment and training to get the job done.

Buy one of our service packages and don’t worry about your annual service for the next two or four years. Our two and four year service packages offer an annual service at the end of years one and two (2-year package) and also end of years three and four (4-year package) including all calibrations and issuing of calibration certificates. They are available on any machine.

Vehicle Aircon System Servicing

If you currently outsource your aircon servicing, you are potentially losing out on revenue. Investing in your own air conditioning unit will ensure your customers don’t go elsewhere for their aircon servicing. We have a range of units available to fit your business needs with extended service and warranty packages.

2 Year Service Package 263771330 £390 .00

4 Year Service Package 263771980 £700 .00

The benefits to your business are: ■ Increased revenue streams for your workshop ■ Minimal technician hands on time ■ Avoiding subcontracting to another garage and lose revenue ■ Increased customer satisfaction and retention Did you know that: ■ 18 million vehicles have aircon systems ■ 95% of all new vehicle registrations come with air-conditioning as standard ■ Air-conditioning systems should be serviced every 12 months ■ Gas should be topped up every year

Warranty and Service Packages Package details: ■ Warranty begins from date of purchase of the machine and runs for 3 or 5 years (dependent on package purchased) ■ The price includes 2 or 4 annual services (dependent on package purchased) to be completed at or around each 12-month anniversary from date of purchase of the aircon machine

■ Service includes calibration of all scales, software updates, diagnostic checks – include leak checks and performance testing of individual parts ■ Calibration certificates are available upon request to meet any audit requirements ■ Parts used on a service are invoiced at the time of service

3 Year Service and Warranty Package 263771335 £550 .00

5 Year Service and Warranty Package 263771985 £995 .00

Your Servicing Equipment

Is your aircon unit ready? When was the last time you treated it to a service? Just like a car, an air conditioning machine requires a service each year to ensure it is performing as it should.

We have a range of warranty and service packages available to ensure your machine is kept in tip top condition ready for aircon seasons for years to come. If a package doesn’t fit your business needs, we also have one off servicing available.

Training

■ As well as having the right equipment, the right training is essential when providing aircon servicing and repairs. To do any work on an aircon system you must have qualifications that meet the minimum requirements of multiple regulations. The consequences of continuing to recover, transfer or handle refrigerant without the relevant qualifications are punishable by law. This applies to an employer and an employee. ■ These requirements have now been adopted by City & Guilds of London Institute (C&G) and Institute of Motor Industry Awards Limited (IMIAL). After 4th of July 2010

Here’s why it is essential to get your machines serviced regularly: ■ To ensure efficient operation and component reliability. ■ To prevent internal corrosion of your machine.

only personnel possessing one of these qualifications will be considered as legally qualified to take delivery, handle, and recover fluorinated refrigerant gases. ■ Plus, with the quickly evolving market for hybrid and electric vehicles and a huge focus on the environment, the AC system has gone through tremendous changes that require regularly updated training.

■ To ensure optimum charging performance and to prevent over charging. ■ To comply with the terms of some ISO quality management systems e.g., PAS125 where required. ■ To keep the machine software up to date. ■ To meet applicable S.A.E standards (J2099) as well as adhering to the environmental protection act (1990) and Workshop Equipment Regulation 1998.

■ We can offer you training at all levels to ensure your workforce are equipped to deal with any AC job that comes their way. For more information, call your local branch or visit Auto Education Academy.

Are You Ready for Change?

Hot Topics – The rise of Hybrid and EV

Are you ready? The biggest change in the aftermarket is the uptake in Electric Vehicles, with more car makers offering EV options and more are expected to come into the market. The latest report from SMMT shows pure electric alone grew 186% to 108.2k in 2020.

Did you know that...? ■ New car registrations fell by 29% to 1.63 million in 2020. The last time just 1.63 million new cars were registered was in 1992. ■ Petrol and diesel sales declined (-39% and -55% respectively), whilst hybrid and electric both grew (71% and 186% respectively). ■ Pure electric accounts for around 7% share of new registrations in 2020 (2% in 2019), whilst hybrid account for around 22% (9% in 2019). ■ Fleet represents 52% share of new registration in 2020, 46% private and 2% business. ■ Top 10 selling cars in 2020 included 2 electric vehicles, the Tesla Model 3 was the top selling car in December 2020 with the Volkswagen ID.3 in 4th place.

■ According to SMMT, more than 100 plug-in car models are now available, and manufacturers are scheduled to bring more than 35 to market in 2021, more than the number of either petrol or diesel new models planned for the year. ■ The government strategy is to promote and encourage private buyers and fleets to opt for electric vehicles (EVs) as soon as they can, and by investing £1.3 billion to strengthen the UK’s charging infrastructure to extend the plug-in car grant. ■ Electric cars account for around 5% share of new registrations in 2020 (3% in 2019), whilst Hybrid accounts for around 15% (10% in 2019)

The Prime Minister has announced sales of brand new petrol and diesel vehicles will be banned from 2030 and hybrids from 2035.

The statement brings forward the original date by 10 years and is part of Boris Johnson’s 10-point plan for a ‘green industrial revolution’.

This means all petrol and diesel powered vehicles will disappear from showrooms in 2030 if not beforehand.

What does this mean for you? Tyres, steering and suspension repair will become more important on electric vehicles.

No. 4

Some of the typical hard-wearing items will not need replacing as often, for instance regenerative braking takes most of the pressure away from the pads and discs. The components and service items will be different in EVs such as lubricants for the air conditioning systems. ■ Only 5% of technicians are trained to deal with new technology. ■ 6,000 techs will need to be trained every year for the next 10 years to ensure there is enough techs to deal with the increased demand. We can support you at Auto Education Academy, with the training required to work on hybrid/electric vehicles, offering these courses at venues all over the UK.

NEW CARS REGISTRATIONS 2019 VS 2020

BEV 7%

■ New car registrations fell 39.5% to 90k in January 2021 from 149k over the corresponding period in 2020. ■ Petrol and diesel declined (-51% and -62% respectively), whilst hybrid and electric both grew (12% and 54% respectively). ■ Pure electric accounts for around 7% share of new

registrations in January 2021 (3% in 2020), whilst hybrid account for around 31% (17% in 2020). ■ According to SMMT, BEV uptake grew by 2,206 units to take around 7% share of the market, as the number of available models almost doubled from 22 in January 2019 to 40 this year.

Service, Maintenance and Repair February sees the start of our latest campaign – Service, Maintenance and Repair. Our digital guide will run for the next few months giving you insight, solutions, service, brands and training around key areas that a workshop will deal with every day, plus some that are not so routine. Our guide breaks down into key areas, around the engine, around the wheel, serviceable parts and tools that get the job done. Not only that, we’ve partnered up with key suppliers to bring you all the information you need to fit these products, get the required training and expertise if needed or just to make you aware of the vast range of products and brands we stock.

Bringing Our Teams Together Virtually for Ben

SERVICE, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

We’ve covered the following topics: ■ DSG and the opportunity for you to move into this area if you haven’t already. ■ The importance of changing water pumps with timing belt kits and the benefits for you and your customers. ■ Fitting Pagid brakes and the C.L.E.A.R. process that means first time correct fitment and a happy customer. ■ The importance of fitting shocks and springs in pairs, what are the risk for not following this practice and the benefits for you and your customers by doing so.

Earlier this month, team members from across our business braved the winter elements to help raise much needed funds for our charity partner Ben. Working together in teams of up to ten, they each tackled 1,722 miles of walking, running, cycling or exercising in just ten days. The Breakout for Ben – road to £1 million challenge is part of Ben’s commitment to making sure no one in the automotive industry has to face life’s toughest challenges alone. With twice as many people turning to Ben for mental health support compared to this time last year, the funds raised will go towards helping people in our industry with free and confidential support services. The event ran from 5th – 14th February 2021 and saw teams embark on a virtual journey visiting motor circuits across the UK, starting at Pembrey Circuit in north Wales and taking in all four home nations, before ending at Silverstone. Congratulations to our teams More than a hundred of our colleagues took part in the Breakout for Ben challenge, completing an incredible 15,000 miles and raising more than £30,000 between them across the ten days. There were some very exciting inter-company rivalries, but all eyes were on one particular battle between our CEO Andy Hamilton and Trading Director Anthony McAteer, whose teams competed against each other to cross the finish line first. Just six days into the challenge, Andy’s team finished their mission and secured second place overall, with Anthony and his team not far behind, finishing sixth out of the 136 teams who entered across the country. At the end of the ten days, 13 LKQ Euro Car Parts teams had put in their all, completing some incredible distances, in some really creative ways. Not only that - the challenge also gave our team members the opportunity to start the year with an emphasis on their own fitness, encouraging them to build time into their working day to focus on health and wellbeing – something we continue to encourage as part of our colleague wellbeing programme. Despite the endless exercise, team rivalries and extremely challenging weather conditions (plus a few flat tyres along the way), the challenge gave our team members a really positive focus even in the face of the current situation, coming together remotely to raise much needed funds for the incredible Ben cause.
