The Light Vehicle Inspection Technician Accreditation (LVI), previously known as ATA Light Vehicle Inspection Technician, is designed for skilled and experienced vehicle technicians who carry out vehicle inspections, appraisals, and condition assessments to industry standards. This accreditation demonstrates a technician’s competence in inspecting light vehicles for safety, condition, and roadworthiness – similar to MOT pre-checks – but not limited to MOT test criteria. It is ideal for those technicians wishing to demonstrate competence and professionalism then move onto the MOT tester course.

The Level 2 Award in MOT Testing (Class 4 and 7) qualification is designed for experienced vehicle technicians who wish to become authorised MOT testers for cars and light commercial vehicles. This course equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and understanding required to carry out MOT tests in accordance with DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) standards and the MOT Testing Guide. It focuses on MOT testing procedures, vehicle inspection routines, relevant legislation, and customer service, ensuring technicians are fully prepared to perform MOT tests safely and accurately.

The Level 3 Award in MOT Test Centre Management is designed for individuals who are, or wish to become, Authorised Examiner Designated Manager (AEDM), or responsible persons involved in the daily running of DVSA-approved MOT test centres. This qualification provides the knowledge and understanding required to manage an MOT test facility effectively, ensuring compliance with DVSA and legislative requirements. Learners will develop the skills to oversee quality systems, staff performance, customer service, and health and safety, while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of MOT operations.
