Upgrade to a one person test lane

Connected Equipment

The DVSA introduced connected technology to the MOT, starting with connected roller brake testers in October 2019. This had been planned for some time in an effort to save time during the test and improve accuracy. Modern testing equipment now captures lots of information about a vehicle in real time. Previously this was all manually keyed into the MOT computer, this system was prone to errors and added time to the test. Connected equipment feeds test results directly into the MTS System which reduces the chance of errors and saves time. This will help to reduce or eliminate the number of incorrectly entered results, as well as stopping incorrectly entered vehicle identification numbers (VIN’s) and mileage. Currently, any new emissions tester and roller brake tester or decelerometer must be connected to the MTS, plans to introduce headlight testers will be rolled out as and when approved equipment becomes available. MOT centres that test class 4,5 and 7 vehicles, must have this connected equipment installed if they are: • Opening a newMOT centre • Reopening a closed MOT centre (this applies regardless of how long it’s been closed) • Changing ownership (where the MOT centre moves from one authorised examiner (AE) to another) • Replacing emissions testing equipment.

OPTL Upgrade

An OPTL upgrade is the ideal solution to bring your existing two man MOT bay up to one-person MOT status without buying a complete new ATL. It is also an opportunity to replace old MOT equipment and bring it up to the latest DVSA requirements with minimum disruption, we can often replace equipment with little or no groundworks (subject to survey).

Options are available for pit, four post lift and scissor lift bays and we can provide a free site survey and planning service to assist you in bringing you bay up to the latest specification. Upgrade includes OPTL lift with radius plates and play detectors, manual jacking beam, headlight beam tester, brake pedal depressor and 2 convex mirrors.

If you are purchasing any new equipment for your test lane, you should be extremely wary of any standalone non-PC based test equipment as, should the regulations be extended to existing stations, it’s unlikely this equipment could be upgraded.
