8 Tips from GR Motosport For four years LKQ Euro Car Parts have been proud sponsors of Sheffield based British Superbike team GR Motosport as they compete in the Bennetts British Superbikes Championship. Formed in 1995, the team has won several British and European Championships, and has focused on developing the next generation of top tier riders and technicians. Ahead of the 2024 season we caught up with the team owner Brent Gladwin, and riders Storm Stacey and Tom Neave to discover their top maintenance tips and talk all things Motorbike.
Brent Gladwin, GR Motosport, Team Owner How did you get into Motorbikes?
My Dad and Grandad were motorcyclists, but the real influencing factor was that my generation used motorcycles for all forms of transport from necessity and work, to family transport with motorbike and sidecar – to just pure fun. Most of the 16 year olds in my school class started with mopeds and were hooked for life.
What was your first Motorbike? My first road bike was a hideous Puch Maxi swiftly followed by an iconic Yamaha FS1E – I did over 10,000 miles on it in a year. I still own her too.
What’s your favourite motorbike maintenance tool? A Torque wrench.
What are your top 5 maintenance tips for motorbikes 1. Keep your bike clean 2. Clean your bike by hand as you clean it you will find anything that might have become loose or worn 3. Use a good quality engine oil
4. Check and clean your brakes – you will need them 5. All lights and switches need to work all the time.
