Part number breakdown

The final digit represents the quantity/size e.g. 1 – 4/5Ltr 2 – 1Ltr 5 – 20Ltr 6 – 199/208/209Ltr 7 – Bulk

The first three digits represent the product group i.e. Engine oil.

The following two digits represent the marque; this is universal for oil.

The next three digits are sequential as a new product is added to the portfolio.

Start by understanding what oil your customer stocks and what this covers. Since 2005, when the majority of vehicle manufacturers began to recommend using fully synthetic oils, the range of required specifications has greatly increased meaning your customers are likely to need more than just one barrel to service all the vehicles they see. This provides an opportunity to upsell and increase your average invoice price with often more expensive oils. Here are some tips about how you can upsell when talking to your customer about oil:

Ask about why a customer is placing the order?

Identify your customer opportunities Is the garage carrying out a service? If so, make sure you offer standard service parts such as oil filters, air filters, spark plugs, coolant, brake fluid etc. By asking if they are conducting a service, you could instantly increase your basket spend. Don’t let them order their service parts elsewhere because we didn’t ask.

When we talk about

When we talk about Premium Aftermarket, these are oils that will meet specification and some recommendations. MPM meets recommendations and has approvals with VMs

When we talk about O.E. these are oil producers that are Original Equipment (First Fill) with many vehicle manufacturers. Meaning they come off the production line filled into these vehicles. These oils carry O.E approvals.

Aftermarket, these are oils that meet specification and recommendations and will met everyday demand.

Lubrication - Meanings

Specification is just the start for a lubricant. They have to meet a specific criteria to be specified at ACEA and/or API. Specifications meaning

We have done comprehensive testing and development. These are our own recommendations that meet the specification and approval for an oil. Recommendations – meaning

Specifications, Recommended and Approvals can be found on the front label on most oils

Vehicle manufacturers, or OEMs will check and test each oil then issue Approvals – meaning

separate approvals. It means the lubricant manufacturer can display this approval (See MPM for MB-Approval 22951/22952) These approvals are paid for by the lubricant manufacturer.

An engine oil must undergo an exhaustive testing procedure to achieve this highest level of car manufacturer approval.

Remember – Not all oils are equal!

The consequences of using the wrong engine oil, over long-term, can be detrimental. Over time, the fuel economy will reduce, oil leaks may occur, oil sensors and switches can be affected, and the engine itself can start to overheat and eventually fail. Not to mention, that high-performance filtration products are extremely sensitive, and a failure of an oil filter can result in engine failure as well. Fitting non approved or recommended oil to a vehicle will invalidate a warranty (Engine, filtration etc). Always recommend the correct lubrication.

The box of the Bag-in-Box is made from sustainable cardboard where no additional dyes and bleaches are used. This ensures a more environmentally friendly manufacturing process and the MPM Bag-in-Box packaging is therefore recyclable. After use, the box can be disposed of as wastepaper and the plastic bag as residual waste. The new MPM ‘Bag-in-Box’ packaging of 20 litres is designed to offer the workshop an environmentally friendly alternative to the current traditional plastic packaging. Stellantis designs, manufactures, and sells automobiles bearing its 14 brands: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram Trucks, and Vauxhall. We’ve been adding to our range of oils To keep our range of MPM products up to date, we’ve been adding in new sizes into our portfolio. Overall, we have added another 39 Skus to the range which breakdown as follows: This Premium Synthetic ‘Mid SAPS ‘engine oil is designed for gasoline and diesel engines equipped with an exhaust after-treatment system. This special formulation complies with the Stellantis FPW9.55535/03 specification, which is mandatory for DV5R engines up to OPR 16885 and for the EB2 Gen1 (2013-2019) 1.2L PureTech engines. These D5VR and EB2 engines are used in Citroen, DS, Peugeot, Fiat, Toyota, Opel and Vauxhall. Optimized cleanliness reduces wear and increases the lifetime of the mechanical components and engine. This engine oil is also suitable for engines requiring the PSA B71 2290 specification with viscosity grade 5W-30. This MPM oil is a key purchase for our customers What is a Stellantis vehicle?
