Oil or gas? What are the di erences? A gas shock absorber is a hydraulic shock, it’s injected with a certain amount of low-pressure nitrogen gas. Gas shocks have valves with large holes to give comfort and smaller holes for driver control. Oil shock absorbers can generate bubbles in operation, resulting in knocks and noise inside of the shock. Gas shocks can separate out and air bubbles.

How does this benefit our garage customers?

Once established this is when the change will happen. The range replicates our current Lion range , so we will still have a vast range and all the best sellers available for our customers. CHANGE OF DPF CLEANING SERVICE FOR CARS AND LIGHT COMMERCIAL

Ceramex will no longer be providing us with a DPF Cleaning Service for Car and Light Commercial DPFs. Heavy commercial and plant DPFs are not a ected, and you can still use this service in the normal way. Our alternative supplier for Car and Light Commercial DPFs. is The Turbo Guy in Glasgow, TTG0101 – they are already a Reman Turbo Supplier to us and they also clean DPFs.

They are able to o er the same 3–4-day turnaround that Ceramex o ered, and they will now also be able to arrange collection of the DPF from the branch – you need to call them to arrange this. The part number remains the same, 723770000 or 723779999 for the Northgate version, and you will still need to contact Specials to raise an order number for you.

In January, The Turbo Guy should have sent all branches sturdy plastic bags to return DPFs for cleaning along with address labels. You can use the existing Ceramex Request Form for now – please make sure you send this with the unit to be cleaned. A new form will be available in from this month. Find out more about

Filter Quality and Block Exemption

Although we have di erent tiered brands across filtration, it’s important to remember all of our brands are compliant with Block Exemption. They all meet the quality standards of the OE supplied filters,

which allows customers to fit our filters on new vehicles without voiding manufacturer warranty (providing they are changed at the correct service intervals using the correct fitting procedures).

You may be asked to provide Block Exemption certificates from time to time – these can be found on our internal website ECPedia on the Product page

Customers may decide to skip their scheduled filter change as they have not covered the mileage stated in their service schedule. Garages can remind their customers that a service schedule is based on mileage and time, so whichever comes first. They should also highlight the importance of fuel filter change can be a good upsell opportunity.

GETTING THE MOST FROM WEB CHAT

What is WebChat? WebChat is a chat-based service we o er on ECPedia to aid branch sta in the look up of vehicle parts that are not listed on TopCat, as well providing technical information if the customer is unsure that the part is correct. Further training can also be found on the e-learning portal.

WebChat has access to a variety of OE systems, including those located on PL24, as well as aftermarket systems for manufacturers such as Honda, Suzuki and many more. The team has a combined knowledge of many years, as well as hands on experience from previous roles within the OE dealerships, such as BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Vauxhall.

WebChat also provide support in the look up of performance parts, with access to performance brands own catalogues such as H&R, Bilstein and Milltek as well as being able to help branches with tool look ups, or providing information on certain warranty processes for Sealey, Milwaukee and Karcher.

WebChat can help answer any questions branch sta have on the OE systems that are accessible by the branch network, where a part is located on the OE or how to narrow down the options presented. The WebChat team will provide the user with a walkthrough or explanation, this also extends to other systems such as TopCat and DVSE.
