TIMING BELT KIT WITH WATER PUMP AVAILABILITY ISSUES We continue to suffer stock availability issues on 348 and 349 product groups due manufacturing shortages that effect all European markets. Because of this we have introduced alternatives that you can offer your customer. When you come to check stock, you will find notes on TopCat and Babbage. These will advise of alternative parts to book out so that you can fulfil your customers orders. It is not yet confirmed how long these stock availability issues will last, but in the meantime, there is a work around to be able to supply product. An update will be provided once these issues have been resolved.

A stabiliser link, otherwise known as a sway bar, anti-roll bar or even link stabiliser, connects the vehicles left and right wheels through short links, reducing body roll whilst cornering, and absorbing shocks from potholes and uneven road surfaces. BALL JOINTS

The lateral link arms are located at the rear of the vehicle. They form part of a multi-link system, connecting the rear hub carrier to the subframe.

A safety-critical part, the ball joint acts as a pivot between the wheels and suspension, allowing the vehicle to be steered, whilst also ensuring a comfortable ride. Since it constantly pivots through multiple planes and angles, it is subject to significant stress and wear.

The inner tie rods provide a link between the steering rack and the front wheels. The inner tie rods and tie rod ends connect the steering rack to the front hub carriers. INNER TIE ROD

CONTROL ARMS

A control arm is the hinged suspension link that connects the chassis and the suspension that carries the wheel. Attached with a single pivot, normally a rubber bushing, the control arm can adjust the position of the outboard end while sustaining the radial distance from the inboard mount. A control arm is one of the most mechanically critical parts of the suspension system, which means it is important to replace them when they become worn or broken. Often the reason a replacement is required is due to the ball joint or bushing being worn out, but it can be very difficult and expensive to replace these components separately.

TIE ROD ENDS

A crucial part of a vehicle’s steering system, is the centre drag link (also known as the centre link). This is connected to both the Pitman and idler arms at either end, the centre drag link is joined to the inner tie rods. The job of centre drag links is to manoeuvre inner tie rod ends such that a vehicle’s wheels turn properly when the steering wheel is moved. CENTRE DRAG LINK

Tie rod ends are part of the steering system. They connect the inner tie rod to the front hub carrier.

With the increased complexity of battery replacement on newer vehicles and especially start stop models, we have worked closely with Varta to provide a step-by-step guide. For start stop batteries fitment can be tricky, and location of these batteries are not always the easiest to find. Take the Range Rover Velar, the battery is stowed away in the boot. These guides aim to take away the complexity of fitment, saving you time, and best of all not having turn

EFB technology satisfies requirements that lie somewhere between conventional starter batteries and AGM technology. Like AGM, EFB batteries power the electrics when the engine is in “sleep mode”. They ensure that sufficient energy is always available, even when a large number of energy consumers are operating during the stop phase. Only ever replace EFB with EFB, or it will fail prematurely.

MOT CAT awareness You are probably aware a Catalytic Converter is an item that can cause a car to fail its MOT and with strict guidelines now in place with regards to emissions, it is important that the Catalytic Converter is functioning properly. There are several reasons that can cause a Catalytic Converter to fail: ■ Incorrect fuel/air mix ■ Damaged or broken monolith (ceramic substrate inside the Cat casing) ■ Lambda sensor functioning correctly ■ Cat is blocked – incorrect fuel used / unsuitable fuel additive / engine problems. Also, a car will fail an MOT if the Cat has been removed, as the Cat is designed to reduce a vehicle’s harmful gas emissions.
