Dust covers for shock absorbers are designed to protect the shock absorber stem. Their function is to prevent the deterioration of the suspension inevitably caused by the aggressiveness of the conditions to which the shock absorber is constantly subjected. When changing shock absorbers on the vehicle, customers should also check the condition of the rubber bump stops. If they are not looking at their best condition it is always worth changing for new to protect the new shocks. Getting technical with air conditioning mechanical parts

How does a vehicle aircon system work? 1. The compressor pressurises the gas, increasing its temperature. 2. The high-pressure gas then flows to the condenser (which acts as a heat exchanger). This heat exchange causes the gas to condense into a high-pressure liquid state. 3. Moving through the expansion valve, the gas experiences a pressure drop, leading to rapid expansion and a significant temperature decrease. 4. This cold and low-pressure refrigerant enters the evaporator, (another heat exchanger), absorbing heat from the surrounding air, resulting in the air cooling down. 5. The blower fan then circulates the cooled air into the vehicle’s interior.

Schaeffler has put together intelligent KITs for changing timing belts under its INA product brand to make replacement in the garage particularly simple and efficient. These KITs contain all components required for the exchange, each individually adapted to the respective car: • Timing belt • Tensioner pulley • Deflection pulley • Required accessories such as screws, nuts, bolts and seals.

In the event of a single defect or for less complex front end auxiliary drives in older cars, garages can fall back on a wide range of INA tensioner and deflection pulleys. MOT CAT awareness There are several reasons that can cause a Catalytic Converter to fail: • Incorrect fuel/air mix • Damaged or broken monolith (ceramic substrate inside the Cat casing) • Lambda sensor functioning correctly • Cat is blocked – incorrect fuel used / unsuitable fuel additive / engine problems. • Also, a car will fail an MOT if the Cat has been removed, as the Cat is designed to reduce a vehicle’s harmful gas emissions.

Valeo’s i-StARS
