ECO/reduced power modes – this is because the vehicle learns the battery state and as it gets older the vehicle electronics make allowances for this. Not knowing a new battery has been fitted can cause these protections to activate when not needed.

Fire – in extreme cases it can also cause fires. This is because the charge system may overcharge an already charged battery at a high rate (200amps+) resulting in the excess energy becoming heat and setting the battery alight.
