Valeo ORIGINS An OE Solution for Starters and Alternators

THE VALEO IBSG – AFFORDABLE 48V ELECTRIFICATION IN USE The Valeo 48 Volts powertrain system architecture is a hybridization solution suited to all types of vehicle, allowing significant gains compared to a 12 Volts hybridization system and a full electrification solution for light vehicles. The 48 Volt IBSG (Integrated Belt Starter Generator) from 4 to 6 kW, has already been sold in more than 1 million vehicles, and is being used at both OE and Aftermarket level. Raising the voltage level to 48 Volts maximises the hybrid system benefits in terms of CO2 reduction and fuel economy.

Valeo’s i-StARS

Valeo’s i-StARS is a stop-start system based on a combined starter-alternator solution replacing the conventional alternator. Similar to an alternator, it is linked to the crankshaft through the belt drive. i-StARS enable the combustion engine to shut off when the driver begins to brake and the vehicle has dropped below a pre-set speed.
