Finance for Ben

Finance fundraiser: the Taff Trail

Between 10th-11th August, 7 of your colleagues in Finance are attempting to walk the Taff Trail, 55 miles through rugged Welsh countryside in support of Ben. As you probably aware, Finance don’t get let out much so just being outside is a challenge in itself, so attempting to walk 55 miles in 2 days is the charity event of the year so far! Annick, Mel, Jess, Matt, Rich, Paul and Anthony are setting off from Brecon and heading for Cardiff Bay. They have all found their walking boots and a lot of courage to battle the elements, taking all their kit with them - SAS style. Now it’s your turn to support, so please dig deep and back the team to raise funds for Ben . Click HERE for the JustGiving page.

Finance internships

Mel Lowe reveals all about our Finance internships…

If you didn’t already know, we have officially launched our first internship for LKQ Euro Car Parts within Finance for 2022! I have been working closely with Jess, Julia and Kate from the People team over the last couple of months to advertise, assess and recruit three enthusiastic University students to join our function and help them gain valuable experience to put towards their degrees. So what have we done so far and what’s still to come?

April May June July

Internships were advertised in local universities for six weeks Applications were reviewed – we received over 60! Selection of candidates invited to T2 for the Intern Assessment Day 12 candidates attended the Intern Assessment Day at T2. Three candidates were successful and offered positions in the team. Mapping out and finalising the detailed programme. Out three new interns will start with us on the 12th September. The Intern Assessment Day proved to be a huge success. We had Andy Hamilton come along to introduce the business and set the scene to the keen group of twelve candidates. There was a great get to know each other session, followed by some speed dating style interview questions and a tricky group challenge for them to get their teeth stuck into. Not only did the teams have to present their ideas on the challenge they’d been set to a stern looking panel (Sheilesh and Mike), but they were also tasked with seeing who could build the highest free-standing tower with just paper and tape. We have offered positions to three candidates from the day and to our delight they have all accepted. I am really excited for them to join us in September and hope you will join me in making sure their experience with us is a memorable one.
