ADAS
ARE YOU READY FOR THE CHANGES WITHIN THE ADAS REPAIR PROCESS?
FROM THE 31ST MARCH 2021 ANY REPAIRER SHOULD FOLLOW UK INSURANCE INDUSTRY REQUIREMENTS (IIR) FOR THE SAFE REPAIR OF ADAS EQUIPPED VEHICLES
WHAT IS UK INSURANCE INDUSTRY REQUIREMENTS (IIR)? IIR is a guidance document set out by UK insurance companies and industry stakeholders. WHY WAS IT CREATED? To support repairers to meet the UK insurer requirements for conducting repairs involving ADAS. WHEN DOES IIR APPLY? IIR applies to repair, servicing or maintenance of vehicles fitted with ADAS systems.
IIR SHOULD BE FOLLOWED WHERE THE REPAIR, SERVICE OR MAINTENANCE OF THE FOLLOWING IS UNDERTAKEN ■ ADAS Sensors – Example Camera / Radar / LIDAR ■ Replacing the sensor / sensor control unit ■ Parts likely to affect the operation / functionality of ADAS sensors ■ Example brackets / mountings including removal and refit ■ Vehicle geometry changes
IIR OVERVIEW ■ Identify if the vehicle is fitted with ADAS and document ■ This must be carried out by a competent (trained) person ■ Where ADAS is present establish if there is any requirement for calibration after the work is completed ■ Road tests should be carried out by a current competent person ■ Calibration results should always be documented ■ Fully verifiable and auditable records provided to asset owner / work provider
ADAS 2 DAY | CALIBRATION & AOM230 ACCREDITATION COURSE DESCRIPTION This is a 2 day course that covers the training and accreditation to be a qualified ADAS technician. As of 2016, new vehicles require a minimum of two ADAS systems fitted to qualify for a 5 Star NCAP Safety Rating, these must be Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Departure. This course covers operation and calibration using a CSC-Tool, a comprehensive multi-brand workshop tool for calibrating camera and radar-based Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS).
COURSE CONTENT DAY 1 ■ Understanding ADAS and ADAS Sensors ■ Relationship To Vehicle Alignment and ADAS Effects of Incorrect Calibration ■ Effects on Other Related Systems
COURSE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES DAY 1 On completion of the course, delegates will be able to: ■ Understand features of Dynamic and Static calibration ■ Accurately calibrate camera-based driver assist systems DAY 2 To determine the technician’s ability to identify and correctly interpret information relating to a specific vehicle and its ADAS features To determine which method of calibration is required. The module also assesses the technician's ability to identify/locate and follow software-specific re- calibration methods during the assessment process. They will also be required to use the correct tools and equipment in order to demonstrate their ability to calibrate two ADAS sensors on a vehicle with a minimum of two operating systems. It is recommended that Technicians planning to undertake this module should be working in the automotive industry and must have relevant Diagnostic and Alignment experience to ensure that they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to calibrate ADAS systems. SKILL RELEVANCE 06. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems OTHER INFORMATION This course is held in: English Course level: Professional Expected course duration: 2 Days
■ When a Calibration Should Take Place ■ How To Perform a Dynamic Calibrations ■ How To Perform a Static Calibration ■ Post Calibration
This IMI Accreditation is designed to ensure that the technician has the ability to calibrate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It demonstrates the technician’s ability to identify and correctly interpret information relating to a specific vehicle and its ADAS features to determine which method of calibration is required.
COURSE CONTENT DAY 2 ■ Safe working practices and H & S guidelines ■ Technical information sources ■ Types of ADAS diagnostic equipment ■ Relevant tools and equipment for calibration
■ The calibration environment, targets, lighting and radar boards ■ Types of sensors and their functions. Optical, Radar, Lidar and Ultra-sonic ■ System operation – steering, braking, lane-departure warning and driver assist ■ Static, dynamic and hybrid system calibration £ 799 .00 PER CANDIDATE Call 01827 838 632 or email training@eurocarparts.com For full terms and conditions please go to www.LKQacademy.co.uk
