MAIN HEADING QUICK WINDLASS TECHNICAL INFORMATION
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS It is important to examine the depth of the anchor locker to determine the fall that is available. The distance between the hawsepipe and the accumulated chain must not be less than 40cm to prevent piling up. The chain is stowed by gravity not the windlass so there must be a free and clear space for the rode to drop to prevent you manually combing the rode back and fourth. There must also be enough space for the motor and gearbox, when a vertical windlass is installed. HORIZONTAL OR VERTICAL? The windlass with gypsy shaft in a horizontal rotation are contained in a structure normally positioned on the deck. The chain is wrapped around the gypsy up to cover a quarter of its circumference (about 90°). They are easy to install and quick to connect. In addition, some particularly compact models can be completely hidden in the bow peak. The vertical windlasses occupy less space on deck as the motor gearbox must be installed inside the anchor locker. The rotation of the chain on the gypsys, in this case, is about 180°, allowing better grip.
HORIZONTAL WINDLASS
40 cm (16”) 40 cm (16”)
The key features of Horizontal Windlasses are:
• Easy quick installation on deck ideal for boats with smaller bow lockers. • Compact models can be hidden below deck in the bow locker. • Minimum fall of 40cm is required from deck to the top of the chain pile.

CHAIN GUIDE LARGER VERTICAL WINDLASSES AVAILABLE ON REQUEST W H
The key features of Vertical Windlasses are:
• Occupy less space on deck with the motor gearbox installed in the anchor locker. • More suited to larger bow lockers. • Minimum fall of 40cm is required from deck to the top of the chain pile.
