Masking tape - what actually is it?

It’s a pressure-sensitive tape designed to adhere to a surface to protect it when painting. The type of adhesive used on masking tape is formulated to make it easy to remove without leaving a residue behind.

The What • Specialist tape with hard plastic down one side

• Often referred to as ‘Trim Lifting Tape’

• Eliminates need to remove glass

• One size and perforated for ease of tearing

The How & Why • Lifts the trim away from vehicle during painting

• Prevents overspray on trim around bonded screens, side

glass and mouldings

Parking Sensor Discs

The What • Film discs with adhesive backing

• Specifically sized for parking sensors

The How & Why • Used to protect sensor and rubber seal during sanding,

painting and polishing.

• Alleviate the need to remove the bumper and sensors

masked

Film Sheeting

The What • Semi-transparent film sheeting to protect vehicle

• High static cling holds sheeting closely to vehicle body

contours and hold overspray

• Premium sheeting available to avoid water sweat marking if

the vehicle is wet

The How & Why • Protects vehicle during spraying

• Vehicle is covered then area to be painted is cut away

• A safety cutter should be used

Seal Wrap

The What • Clear plastic wrap with a low tack adhesive on one side

• Often referred to as ‘Smash Wrap’

• Tough and tear resistant

The How & Why • Typically used for protecting broken windows, windscreens

and sprung doors

• Low tack, ensuring no residue is left behind

• Great alternative to using masking film and tape to protect

vehicles openings when left outside

Wheel Protection Masking

The What • Protects wheel to give better working area on alloy

• Corona treated film that is paint absorbent

• Fits wheel rims of up to 26 inches

• Elasticated centre

• Supplied in handy sturdy dispenser box which protects

The How & Why • After deflating the tyre and breaking the wheel off the

bead, the elasticated centre is quickly applied around

the back of the rim covering the whole tyre
