Finance Bulletin Newsletter_November 2022 V1
I got accepted at Aston University where I am currently doing a Business and Management degree: a 4-year course which has a placement year included, hence I am currently at LKQ Euro Car Parts for my third year! Talk about working in the branch/your induction so far… My induction was exciting as I met some of the members of the finance team who were lovely as they were very welcoming, I also went for a tour round T1 and T2 which was quite informative as I got to see the different processes. In my second week I went to the LKQ Euro Car Parts branch in Derby where I took part in different operations of the branch: for example, one day I was out in the delivery van which was something new for me. The manager and the people working there were very friendly which made my experience more enjoyable. At head office I will be doing logistics which is something I am looking forward to. Tell us about a funny / memorable / proud work moment… One of my proudest work moments was last summer when I was working at a warehouse and that day - I had a very high target to achieve. By being consistent and not getting distracted by my friends I achieved it and got praised by my manager. I felt very proud as it was something that I didn’t expect, having my efforts recognised motivated me to work more. Tell us what you’re most looking forward to this year! Something that I am looking forward to is working closely with the finance team, in particular working in the logistics sector. I am excited about challenging myself and increasing my knowledge on how real-world businesses are managed and the risks that they face. I am also excited to meet new people and make new connections and learn about their past experiences. And finally, tell us something interesting about you… Something interesting about me is that I was born in Italy, and I can speak various languages, including Italian, Punjabi and a little bit of French. I am also learning how to drive so hopefully I get my driver’s license soon.
Name: Jaskiran Kaur Hometown/location: I’m from Derby Job role and business area:
I am currently doing my placement at LKQ Euro Car Parts; I will be working with them for 12 months and I will be based in the head office in Tamworth in T2. My role is hybrid, therefore is a mixture between working from home and on site. I am carrying out the role of finance assistant. For the first 6 months I will be working closely with Nathan Wardle doing the logistics side of the business, then for the rest of the internship I will be working in another sector of finance. Tell us about your school/uni history: I went to secondary school in Italy and then moved to England and went into year 8. initially, I found it a bit difficult but with time I settled in and got used to a new environment. After school, I went to sixth form where I completed my A levels in Biology, Psychology and BTEC Business. Due to the coronavirus, I couldn’t take my year 13 exams, but it didn’t really affect me as I ended up getting the grades I needed for the universities that I applied to.
