Diversity Task Force Committed to making positive change The IMI is the only professional body for people in the automotive industry. We offer vocational qualifications, a global membership community, and help to maintain and elevate standards and drive the success of the motor industry. Part of this is creating a more diverse and inclusive workforce. Our research showed that industries with greater diversity outperform those without. Businesses with greater workforce diversity are likely to: • Be more efficient • Have higher work place satisfaction • Be more profitable To achieve a more diverse workforce, and have a sector that is perceived as a positive career choice we need to: • Understand the lack of diversity in automotive • Broaden the diversity discussion beyond gender • Understand barriers faced by individuals from some groups in society • Demonstrate the economic benefits of a diverse workforce • Understand young peoples’ perception of the sector • Draw up actions that will make a difference The IMI Diversity Task Force has collaborated with businesses and employees across the sector to create an Expert Panel, formulate case studies on lived experiences, collected crucial research and collated all information in a report of recommendations and findings.
