Garage Support Edition 8

Creating bookings

With the MOT extension now finished from the 1 st August, managing your workload will be key for a successful workshop. Why should I reach out and book in services and MOTs? The demand for MOTs post lockdown is expected to double, or even triple, so managing your workload will be key to operating successfully. Scheduling your work now can help define your working hours and which technicians you’ll need, as well as help you effectively manage your finances. Arranging upfront bookings will help spread the word that you are planning on being business as usual to your customer base too.

Start by:

Work through your database to understand which customers need MOTs

Contact these customers, explain demand is high and not wanting them to miss out

Generate early and upfront bookings and managing workflow

If possible, offer a collection and delivery service

Help ensure social distancing rules are met and the right PPE used

High increase in MOTs, will also lead to a 50% rise in failure rates, this could create a workflow blocker. MOT testers could work longer to complete tests but there is only a limited number of technicians and hours to complete the work needed for them to pass. Contacting AutoTech recruit could help with this problem and provide temporary staff to help with demand.
