Why is hybrid and electric vehicle training important for your garage? Hybrid and electric vehicles are at the forefront of many car manufacturer agendas.

Most recently Nissan announced their £1billion investment into a new battery factory which has the potential to produce batteries for 100,000 electric vehicles each year. 1

Ford promised that 100 percent of their passenger vehicle range in Europe will be zero emissions, all-electric or plug-in hybrid by 2026 and will be completely all-electric by 2030. 3

Volvo has committed to making its entire model line-up fully electric by 2030. 2

The UK will need 7,000+ hybrid and electric technicians each year for the next 10 years to keep up with the rise in hybrid and EV sales

Only 5% of UK technicians are trained to work on these vehicles safely

Level 4 Award in the diagnosis testing and repair of electric/hybrid vehicles and components Level 4 provides further understanding of HV battery management for both nickel metal hybrid and lithium ion batteries, the operation and control of inverters/converters and the methods to control three phase synchronous brushless drive motors/generators.

Other subjects covered include high voltage airconditioning compressors, DC-DC converters, PTC heater assemblies along with high pressure hydraulic braking systems and the management between conventional braking and regeneration braking balance.
