ROI Bodyshop Equipment Catalogue Q2 2023 May-Jul
Take control of your booth’s energy consumption A modern high-efficiency booth will come with mechanical and control system features that optimise job times and energy use. It’s important to make full use of these features, and to keep a close eye on your energy use per job.
If your booth is more than five years old, there’ a good chance you can improve its efficiency by upgrading the control system and/or the air movement and heating plant. And you’ll make your money back in a matter of months. It’s not just older booths that can benefit from efficiency upgrades. Many newer entry-level booths lack the full array of energy-efficiency features that higher-end models come with. Relevant upgrades make financial sense here too. Taking full control of your spraybooth’s energy use is easier than it sounds, and we can help you find the best way forward. Call your branch and ask for a consultation with your Workshop Solutions Equipment Manager.
What you can do as a behaviour change
• Turn the booth off when it’s not in use. • Adopt energy efficient paint repair processes (air-dry primers, UV primers etc). • Reduce the overall process time per job to the minimum. • Set the booth temperature correctly to requirement – if the paint scheme only needs 22°C, energy is being wasted if the booth temperature is going to 26°C. • Pre-set bake temperature profiles
and make sure they are used. • Switch to a low-temperature paint scheme.
What you can implement with a control software upgrade • Automatic ‘off’ if the booth is not in use • Automatic reduced air rate for idle periods • Automatic booth shut-off at the end of bake cycle • Control system tuning to make the painting process as efficient as possible.
