This unit disconnects the battery from non-essential loads before it becomes completely discharged. It can be set to disconnect at several different voltages and a digital display is built in to indicate what setting has been selected. voltage and over temperature. It connects to the daisy-chain connectors on the batteries, and between the starter and domestic battery where an alternator is being used for charging. The device’s purpose is to protect the Li-ion batteries in the event of under/over-voltage and over-temperature by electronically disconnecting them when the charge voltage is too high or the battery voltage becomes too low. It limits the charge power from the alternator to prevent overheating, particularly while running on lower rpm and will also prevent the Li-ion battery discharging into the starter battery to prevent excessive discharge. It also prevents the load from taking power from the starter battery.

The battery charger/maintainer enables an extra battery bank to be kept ‘topped up’ from the main battery bank which has the charging device(s) connected to it (e.g. alternator, battery charger, solar cell/wind turbine etc.) The battery charger/maintainer works by detecting when the main battery bank reaches 13.3V and allows the excess power to be transformed to the extra battery bank with only a minor voltage drop of 0.2V.
